The case for each
Halloween: Six years earlier, John Carpenter set the rules Freddy would bend: a masked, silent Michael Myers, a quiet suburban street, a babysitter who fights back, and a piano theme written by the director.
A Nightmare on Elm Street: Wes Craven's 1984 film: Freddy Krueger, with a burned face and a bladed glove, kills teenagers in their dreams, so staying awake is the only defence. Also Johnny Depp's first film role.
