The case for each
Scream: Wes Craven's 1996 slasher, written by Kevin Williamson: a killer in a Ghostface mask stalks teenagers who know all the rules of horror movies. Revived the genre and started a franchise still running today.
Halloween: John Carpenter's 1978 low-budget hit: Michael Myers escapes an asylum and comes home to Haddonfield on Halloween night to stalk babysitter Laurie Strode, Jamie Lee Curtis's film debut. The template for the slasher.
