Magazines have crowned "the sexiest man alive" every year for decades, but those lists are picked by a small editorial team. GOATvs asks the question differently. Two faces appear, you pick one, and the world's ranking of the most handsome men is built from all of those small choices together. The box above shows where some of the best-known names stand today.

The name most often at the top of these conversations is Brad Pitt. People magazine named him its Sexiest Man Alive in 1995 and again in 2000, and three decades later he is still a film star, with an Oscar for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. His closest rival in the same generation is George Clooney, who also won the People title twice, in 1997 and 2006. The two played partners in Ocean's Eleven, and Brad Pitt against George Clooney is one of the most searched face-offs in the whole Beauty category.

The classics have not faded. Paul Newman, with the blue eyes that defined a Hollywood era, starred in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and The Sting next to Robert Redford, and won his Oscar for The Color of Money. Off screen he founded Newman's Own, a food company that gives its profits to charity. James Dean made only three major films before his death at 24, and Rebel Without a Cause made him an image that still sells posters seventy years later. France has its own legend in Alain Delon, the face of Le Samouraï and Purple Noon.

The action heroes have their own face-off. Tom Cruise became a star with Top Gun in 1986 and returned to the role in Top Gun: Maverick in 2022, while still doing his own stunts in Mission: Impossible. Hugh Jackman, People's choice in 2008, has played Wolverine since the first X-Men film in 2000 and also won a Tony Award on Broadway. Cruise or Jackman is a pick between two very different kinds of charm.

Then there are the newer names. Pedro Pascal, born in Chile, became one of the internet's favourite actors through The Mandalorian and The Last of Us, after years of smaller roles. Among the younger generation, Timothée Chalamet rose with Call Me by Your Name and Dune, and Australian Jacob Elordi with Euphoria, Saltburn and his turn as Elvis Presley in Priscilla. Chalamet against Elordi is the face-off of the moment for a younger audience.

Looks are personal, and that is the point. A ranking from one magazine reflects the taste of a few editors; a ranking built from face-offs shows where the whole world leans, surprises included. Stars of the 1950s and 60s stand on the same list as today's most famous faces, and each new pick decides whether timeless screen presence or the current moment wins.
